Roof Repairs

Victorian Chimney Stack Access

A tall multi-flue stack reached from the ridge on rope, with rope protection over the leadwork, for inspection and repair work out of reach of any ladder.

Project context

Building described without naming the client. Rope protection used over the leadwork to avoid point loading.

Challenge

The stack carries eight clay pots on a corbelled brick head, set well above the ridge of a slate roof. Nothing reaches it safely from ground level and the leadwork around its base cannot take point loads.

What was carried out

We rigged from the ridge with rope protection laid over the lead valley, so the technician could move along the stack without loading or scuffing the leadwork.

Outcome

The full height of the stack and its base leadwork were reached and worked without scaffold, tower or roof ladder.
