Building described without naming the client. Worked over a live pedestrianised street with no scaffold and no highway licence.
A parapet gutter on a period commercial building above a pedestrianised high street was choked with pigeon guano and sediment, packed in around the pigeon spikes. Scaffolding a trading street would normally mean a highway licence and disruption to the shops below.
We worked the run from the roof instead, on ropes in IRATA harness with a back-up device, shovelling the guano, moss and sediment out of the gutter from around the pigeon spikes.
The parapet gutter was left clear along the roofline, with the street and cafe terraces below in use throughout the visit.
